6. Moon, Stars, and Cloud Celestial Mobile

6

A celestial mobile feels dreamy without being overly themed, and the combination of ivory, soft gold, and deep navy looks elegant in a nursery that will grow with your child.

Cut a crescent moon shape and a handful of five-pointed stars in two or three sizes. Stars can stay flat and double-layered with a simple running stitch around the edge. The moon looks best lightly stuffed so it reads as a solid shape. Add one or two small clouds at the top for balance.

You’ll need: felt in ivory, pale gold or mustard, and navy, metallic embroidery floss if you like a subtle shimmer, fiberfill, a hoop, and twine. Time is roughly two to three hours.

Hang the moon at the center and scatter stars around it at varied heights. If you want a fuller mobile, add eight to ten stars. This design also works well in a muted gray-and-cream palette for a more neutral feel.
