2. Cloud and Raindrop Mobile

This is the project to choose if you want something calming that fits almost any nursery theme. Clouds and raindrops work in a neutral gray-and-white nursery, a pastel room, or even a modern black-and-white space.
Materials: white or ivory felt for clouds, two or three shades of blue for drops, embroidery floss, a wooden hoop, and twine. No stuffing required, which keeps this project fast.
Cut cloud shapes in two sizes and raindrop shapes in three sizes. If you want the clouds to look plush without stuffing, cut two layers per cloud and sew them together with a visible running stitch around the edge. The stitch itself becomes part of the design. Hang the largest cloud in the center and suspend drops and smaller clouds from it at varying lengths.
This one takes about two hours and is genuinely beginner-friendly. Vary the drop lengths so the mobile has movement rather than a flat, even fringe. A version with six clouds and twelve drops fills a standard crib-width space nicely.
