9. Hanukkah Blue and Silver Star Runner

9

Hanukkah decor often leans on blue, white, and silver. A fabric runner with Star of David motifs, metallic thread, or silver fabric paint can become a meaningful centerpiece for eight nights of gatherings.

Start with a blue linen or cotton base. Create freezer paper stencils for stars or dreidels, then sponge silver fabric paint onto the fabric. Peel the stencil away while the paint is still slightly damp for crisp edges. Alternatively, appliqué silver lamé stars with fusible web and stitch them down. Finish the edges with a narrow hem or silver bias binding. This project takes about 1.5 hours and is beginner-friendly.

Customize the runner with family names, Hebrew letters, or a repeating Star of David border. Display it with white candles, blue glass, and silver serving pieces. A budget-friendly alternative is to use a plain blue tablecloth cut into a runner and add painted stars. If you use metallic paint, apply it in thin layers rather than one thick coat. Let the runner air-dry for 24 hours before ironing or washing.
