7. Boho Rope-Wrapped Ladder with Tassels

7

Rope and tassels turn a plain wooden ladder into a soft, boho accent. This idea is less about heavy construction and more about texture. It suits living rooms with rattan, macrame, plants, and layered rugs.

Materials:

  • A basic wooden ladder, store-bought or handmade
  • Cotton rope or macrame cord
  • Yarn in two or three colors for tassels
  • Wooden beads, hot glue, scissors
  • Clear sealer for the wood if needed

Start by wrapping the top rung or one side rail with cotton rope, securing the ends with hot glue on the back side. Make tassels by wrapping yarn around a small book or piece of cardboard, tying one end, and cutting the other. Attach tassels to the rope with beads or simple knots. Keep the wrapping tight and even so it does not slide.

Time: 1–2 hours. Difficulty: Beginner.

Display lightweight throws, scarves, or a woven wall hanging. This ladder works well in a corner with a floor lamp and a plant. If you already have a wooden ladder, this is a low-commitment way to change its look. Avoid wrapping the rungs where you plan to hang heavy blankets, because the rope can stretch over time.

💡 Pro Tip: Wrap rope over a thin line of hot glue as you go to keep it from shifting later.
