5. Make Thank-You Cards for Service Members

A simple thank-you card teaches preschoolers about gratitude.

Provide crayons, stickers, markers, and patriotic shapes. Help children decorate cards with stars, hearts, flags, or simple drawings.

If children are able, they can write short messages like:

  • Thank you
  • We appreciate you
  • You are brave

Even if the writing is mostly scribbles, the act of creating a kind message is what matters.

If possible, families or schools can share the cards with local community groups or veterans’ organizations.
