3. Create Paper Poppies
Remembrance poppy flowers are often connected with remembrance. Preschoolers can make easy paper poppies using red cupcake liners, tissue paper, or construction paper.
Cut out simple circles for petals and glue a black dot in the center. Children can make a whole garden of poppies and display them on a bulletin board or classroom wall.
As they craft, explain that many people wear poppies on Memorial Day to remember brave people.
This activity introduces symbolism in a way preschoolers can understand.
