9. Good Lighting for Every Routine

Lighting can change the entire feel of a bathroom. In a family space, it also needs to support many activities—brushing teeth, shaving, makeup, bathing children, and nighttime visits.

A layered lighting plan works best. Overhead lighting provides general brightness, while vanity lighting near the mirror gives better visibility for grooming tasks.

If possible, use warm white bulbs to create a comfortable atmosphere. A small night light can also be very useful for young children who may need the bathroom after bedtime.

Natural light is another major advantage. Even a small window can make the room feel brighter, cleaner, and more welcoming.
